Interesting People

May 17, 2013

In my search for interesting books, I have come across some fun and interesting blogs and YouTube channels.  Here are some of my favourites.

Tor.com

Tor is a major publisher of sci-fi/fantasy books and they maintain an excellent website at Tor.com.  As well as providing information on upcoming new books it maintains several read-along blogs.  Two of my favourites are the Wheel of Time reread and the Song of Ice and Fire read, both by the wonderful Leigh Butler.

Another upcoming reread is the The Black Company reread.  I plan to follow along with this.

The Lizzie Bennet Diaries.

If you haven’t watched this YouTube vlog based on Pride and Prejudice yet, check it out.  I have a post on it.  The followup Welcome to Sanditon has just started.

Cats and Books

Come on, how could I not be intrigued by a blog with that title?  I adore cats, I adore books, what’s not to like?  Seriously, it’s an interesting blog, with reviews of current movies.  The writer is clearly a major fan of Benedict Cumberbatch, but I for one can’t  pass any judgement there

Twitter

Naturally I, follow several authors on Twitter.  Two who have given me a lot of pleasure recently are Brent Weeks and Joe Abercrombie.  Their twitter teasing (tweezing?) of each other is hilarious.  Fortunately they both put the same humour into their books.

Otaku Assemble

This vlogger came to my attention during season 1 of Game of Thrones.  His (unspoiled) insightful and funny reviews of the episodes are a definite date in my calendar.  Usually the day after the episode I check out what Larry has to say.  He has recently announced that he will not be continuing his reviews of Season Three (I guess the Red Wedding was too much for him…) which is a shame.

Katytastic

I came across this book related vlog recently and really like it.  It appears Kat has very similar tastes to me and I enjoy her recommendations.

ILMK – I Love My Kindle
